TFP at the March for Life in Munic - A report

On May 3, the March for Life took place in Munich, one of the largest and most important pro-life events in Germany. Thousands gathered in Bavaria's capital to take a stand against the liberal culture of death and defend the most fundamental human right: the right to life. TFP volunteers took part in the march to explain that the fight for life can only be won through a consistently Catholic approach.

Among the stands of various pro-life organizations on Munich's Königsplatz, this year there was also a stand of the TFP. Clearly recognizable by the large red standard hoisted in front of the tent, TFP volunteers promoted a petition for the protection of life and distributed various materials. Unlike all the other stands, the message here was unambiguously Catholic: only the teaching of the Church can bindingly protect life, and many participants in the march saw it the same way. The enthusiasm for the TFP's presence was evident. The stand was very well attended, and both the petition and the materials were widely distributed. In addition, people kept coming up to us to express their support, especially young people.

After a few complications caused by the counter-protest of the Antifa, the march set off at around 2:30 p.m. The TFP group formed the rearguard and led a rosary prayer, which many joined. So we marched through the streets of Munich, praying and proclaiming. Except for two insignificant disturbances from the Antifa, there were no complications on our way. Due to the disobedience of the counter-protesters, the police had to break up the Antifa block, and so the march was spared from direct attacks. We then returned to the Königsplatz. There, the TFP volunteers were met by a large crowd of interested people who had become aware of them during the march and now wanted to find out more about the work of the TFP. This crowd did not diminish until the end of the official program. And so the march ended in the late afternoon.

The presence of the TFP showed one thing above all: a determined Catholic presence has a great appeal for people who are already committed to the protection of life. Young people in particular came to the stand and wanted to know more. The desire for a militant movement was clear. The stark contrast between the appearance of most pro-life organizations and the TFP was very striking, and many were inspired by the TFP's apostolate. Once again, it became clear that those who stand for the truth must not hide or fear criticism from others. Young people in particular are looking for a militant alternative, and the Catholic tradition offers this. Thus, the TFP continues to fight to spread and anchor the teachings of the Holy Church.
