Street Campaign: how many degrees has the Earth really warmed?
It was a beautiful day, the sky was blue, the sun was shining, an ideal day for a street campaign. This time, TFP Student Action Europe headed to the South Holland towns of Berkel en Rodenrijs and Schiedam. The aim: to show our protest against climate coercion.
We chanted slogans, handed out our Manifesto against Climate Coercion and interacted with numerous people. To get our message across, we repeatedly held a short quiz. We asked people three questions. How many degrees has the earth warmed in the last 100 years? How many centimetres has the sea level risen? What percentage of energy do we get from wind and solar power in the Netherlands?
And then it becomes clear how much climate propaganda has penetrated the minds of the Dutch. Almost everyone gives way too high answers. Three, four, five degrees of warming, several metres of sea level rise, 50% wind energy... In reality, there is no more than 1 degree of warming (according to the latest report by UN climate panel IPCC), 18 centimetres of sea level rise and only 5% of current energy generation in the Netherlands comes from wind turbines and solar panels.
Nobody wants That
Faced with these answers, many people are puzzled. For years they have been reading in the newspapers and seeing very different claims on the news, haven't they? Yet they seem to have no trouble accepting the facts, the correct answers to our questions. A few engage in debate, but many recognise that the dominant climate narrative is indeed very one-sided. That offers hope! Furthermore, everyone reacts negatively when we explain that the plan to go to 50% renewable energy means adding 10 times as many windmills and solar panels. No one really wants that.
Youth has a Future
Also enjoyable: a boy of around 14 years old knew that the earth's temperature has only risen 1 degree in the last century. How he knew that? Simply, learned at school. Thankfully, leftist indoctrination in education has not yet penetrated everywhere.
Where have we already been?
Did you know that we have already done 60 street campaigns for Private Property in recent years? It is an excellent way of campaigning. We take back public space from the left, show that there is organised resistance to leftist culture, and offer people hope. For instance, we often speak to people who say they are alone in their families or friends with their views on Islam, climate, Black Pete, you name it. Our presence on the streets gives them courage to keep going against the prevailing leftist views. That is also a big motivator for us to continue with this way of campaigning.
