Out on the Streets against Abortion in Arnhem and Eindhoven: Police endanger the Safety of Pro-Lifers

The sight of an unborn child arouses an almost inhuman rage in abortion advocates.

Out on the Streets against Abortion in Arnhem and Eindhoven: Police endanger the Safety of Pro-Lifers

The street campaign for the unborn child is travelling throughout the Netherlands and Flanders. We have already visited The Hague, Leiden and Utrecht. On Wednesday we were in Arnhem, and on Thursday in Eindhoven.

‘I am Pro-life. My Daughter is a Miracle’

In Arnhem, we unfurled our banner, prayed and spoke to passers-by: our usual approach to raising awareness of the unborn child. We spoke to a man who had a large anti-abortion billboard hanging outside his house. The man felt noticeably supported by our testimony. So did a man who smiled at us and said: “I am pro-life. My daughter is a miracle.”

Charlie Kirk

Soon, pro-abortion activists turned up. They threw things at us, played death metal through a loudspeaker and made threats. When one of our volunteers mentioned the murder of Charlie Kirk during a discussion, a pro-abortion activist said: “You’re next.” Another said: “You should have been killed.” The atmosphere was menacing. Only the timely intervention of the police prevented violence.

Pro-abortion counter-demonstrators physically attacked our volunteers on several occasions and attempted to steal our materials in Eindhoven.

Pro-abortion Activists began pushing

It was even worse the following day in Eindhoven, where we were on the university campus. Initially, the atmosphere there was good. Passers-by were positive and happy to accept a pro-life leaflet from us. Several people expressed their support for our campaign. The atmosphere changed when pro-abortion activists turned up. They soon began pushing.

Counter-demonstrators are making it impossible for our pro-lifers to demonstrate. This is a violation of our right to demonstrate. However, campus security (see the car on the right) refuses to intervene.

The Police stood by and watched

Once the police were there, they mainly just ‘watched’ and refused to intervene whilst the pro-abortion activists physically attacked us. In the end, we were forced to keep the aggressive activists at bay ourselves. What sort of country do we live in, where both the police and campus security stand by and watch whilst our constitutional right to demonstrate is being violated? This despite the fact that the law obliges the authorities to actively facilitate demonstrations?

We are considering legal action

I get the strong impression that the content of our street campaign – the unborn child has a right to life, abortion is a sin – does not sit well with some of the police officers. And that, as a result, they are failing to provide us with the protection we are legally (and, of course, morally) entitled to. Our foundation is considering legal action to hold both the police and the local council to account.
