Elections in Germany: TFP volunteers take to the streets

Germany is going through a profound political, economic, cultural and, above all, psychological crisis. But these crises have a single cause: the moral and religious crisis that has been spreading, deepening and consolidating in Germany for decades, especially since the so-called revolution of 1968.

On the eve of the German federal election to be held on February 23rd, many hope that a package of drastic policy reforms regarding the economy and illegal immigration will usher in some kind of new era. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Any solution, however good, that ignores the fundamental need for Germany to return to its Christian roots and principles that have shaped it from Charlemagne to the present day is doomed to failure. The same can be said of other European countries.

Volunteers from the German section of TFP Student Action were on the streets of Cologne and Bonn last weekend where they distributed a manifesto to the public containing the 5 minimum demands that must be considered if this return to the Christian order is to be possible.

History proves that Germany and Europe reached their true greatness when it was conscious of their Christian mission. They were a beacon of light and civilization for the world as they promoted and spread the faith, as countless missionaries and religious orders testified.

Only through a true conversion and a return to the immortal legacy of Charlemagne, the Holy Empire and so many heroes who made our continent a bastion of Christianity can we strive to rise again to the greatness of times past.

A campaign on the streets of Cologne and Bonn

In Cologne, the campaign took place on the busy Schildergasse, where thousands of passers-by were able to receive the manifesto and talk to the volunteers. Many approached to ask what they could do in the face of the crisis. The answer always sought to make it clear, beyond other measures: "The real solution begins within each of us." In fact, without an individual conversion, no political or economic solution will have any lasting results.

The root of the crisis is moral and it is in this field that we must begin regeneration.

In Bonn, the action took place on the historic Münsterplatz, famous for the iconic statue of Beethoven. Surprisingly, the public reception was even warmer than in Cologne. Many passers-by engaged in lively conversations about the future of Germany and Europe.

The Left's response

After more than two hours of campaigning, a small group of left-wing activists tried to organize a counter-demonstration. However, they ran out of steam and had to rely on a lone activist who nervously and hurriedly tried to read a generic manifesto found on the internet into the megaphone. The response from our volunteers was firm and vigorous, rebutting the fallacies with clarity and determination.

Quickly, many passers-by gathered to watch the clash of ideas and saw the modern left's lack of arguments, organization, and dynamism. Once again, it was clear that the truth, when proclaimed without fear, can attract and convince souls of goodwill and confuse the wicked.
