TFP Student Action Europe organised a public rosary in reparation for the sacrilege that took place in the shrine of Our Lady in 't Zand, the Netherlands.
Resistance to the Homo-Lobby: Public Rosary at the Sacrilegious ‘Pink Celebration’ in Roermond
This “Pink Celebration”, organised under the leadership of Father Harry Notermans and the Reading Circle Building a Bridge , took place as part of Roermond Pride – an ideological event that has its origins in a revolutionary struggle against the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Name of Priest and Blasphemous LGBT Image of the Sacred Heart removed from Website
Even before the prayer action began, the resistance immediately bore fruit. Within a short time after the launch of our petition – which was signed by hundreds – the name of the priest involved and a blasphemous image of Christ in rainbow robes were removed from the website of the organisation behind the “Pink Celebration”. This open provocation disappeared from the public scene because of the steadfast witness of those who refuse to remain silent.
Echo of Fidelity to Moral Teaching
At around 11:00 a.m. last Saturday, TFP volunteers gathered in front of the chapel to offer a Rosary in reparation. We prayed the entire rosary, including the joyful, sorrowful, and glorious mysteries. In between, clear slogans were shouted in defence of the sacred attribute of the House of God and the truths of the Faith. The fact that the protest was audible in the church was confirmed to us by a group of local young men from the diocese of Roermond who were in the church building and were finishing their novena to Our Lady in reparation for this horrible sacrilige.

Resistance to Ideological Infiltration of the Church
Afterwards, we spoke for almost an hour with other concerned believers, who expressed their desire to organise such actions more often. They realise that resistance to ideological infiltration and undermining of the faith is urgently needed. Later that day, we distributed more than a thousand manifestos and petitions against the “Pink Celebration” at around 50 churches and parish centres in the diocese, including the bishop's palace.

The Confrontation was not sought, but provoked
We need to emphasise: TFP Student Action Europe did not seek confrontation, as the organisers of the event are portraying in the media. We use prayer exclusively as a powerful weapon to ask for divine intervention and appease God's wrath. The real confrontation is provoked by those who, under the guise of “inclusivity”, abuse the sacred for the celebration of sin, as the “Pink Celebration” unmistakably does. Instead of defending the truth of the Gospel, they are trying to normalise an opposing moral vision under the guise of false mercy. The organisers' plea for so-called “dialogue” is nothing more than a covert form of pastoral destruction. In reality, we are not being asked to engage in dialogue, but to renounce our faith in favour of worldly norms. We refuse to cooperate – not out of hatred of persons, but out of love for Our Lord Jesus Christ and the salvation of souls.
The anti-Catholic Origins of Roermond Pride
Roermond Pride has its origins in opposition to Catholic morality. The very first ‘Pink Saturday’ in the Netherlands was held in Roermond in 1979 – not just as a festive event, but as a deliberate attack against the Bishop Joannes Gijsen, who defended Catholic teaching with courage and fidelity. What we see today is a continuation of this struggle: an ideological attack on the Catholic Faith under the banner of “inclusivity”, which targets everything that is sacred and truly good.

Holiness is not preserved by Silence
Organiser Raymond Hintjes stated in the media that he ‘assumes that this is also a sacred place for the demonstrators [of TFP Student Action Europe], and that disturbances are therefore out of the question.’ This statement shows a profound misunderstanding of what holiness means. For it was not our prayer that disturbed the sanctity, but the celebration itself – which justifies, normalises and even glorifies sin in a sacred temple of God.
True Bridge building
We thank all those who were present, in prayer or in spirit, and call for continued resistance to these disruptive ideological celebrations. As Cardinal Ratzinger warned back in 1986, this is not merely a matter of pastoral tact, but of the essence of truth and sin:
"One of the essential dimensions of genuine pastoral care is the identification of the causes that have created confusion in relation to the Church's teaching."2
If these celebrations continue, the Church will not be a bridge to salvation, but a wandering raft without an anchor.
‘Non possumus’
‘Non possumus’ – we cannot remain silent. Just as Our Blessed Mother remained standing beneath the Cross, so we remain faithful to the Truth – rosary in hand, faith in our hearts, and Christ in our sights.
We urge you to SIGN this petition addressed to Mgr. Dr. Ron van den Hout, Bishop of Roermond, requesting that the foundation Building a Bridge led by Pastor Harry Notermans be suspended and that the traditional Catholic teaching on the sinfulness of homosexual acts be publicly affirmed — in all its clarity, splendour and orthodoxy.
