Ireland 2018 Summer Camp

Ireland 2018 Summer Camp

This year’s summer camp (2nd-9th July) for young men was a great success. The camp was held at Glencomeragh House, Co. Waterford. The location afforded the possibility of visiting Cahir Castle, Holy Cross Abbey – named after a relic of the True Cross residing in the church - and the Rock of Cashel.

Everyday, new games were introduced such as "Shield Ball" and "French Football". Timeless favourites were also played; for instance Treasure Hunt and Prison Break. The camp was again blessed with the excellent cooking of Miguel Angel, our Spanish volunteer.

For many of the participants, however, the highlight of the camp was not the outings or the games, or even the excellent food, the highlight was praying the Holy Rosary in Cahir, Co. Tipperary in reparation for abortion. For one hour, the town square was filled with the chant of Mary’s Psalter regularly punctuated by bagpipes. One participant, who had the advantage of standing on a wall, noticed numerous people bless themselves while another participant observed ten different people approach and pray with the rally.

The summer camp, and especially the Rosary Rally, is proof that young men want to pure, want to be Catholic, and want to defend their Faith. The 2018 Call to Chivalry Summer Camp, thanks to Our Lady, was truly a blessing for all present.
